Choose the right probe length
The FYTA Beam measures most accurately when the probes match the root depth of your plant. The right probe length ensures that moisture is measured exactly where it matters for the plant.
As a guide, you'll find an overview here. For a personalized recommendation, use the probe length calculator below.
| Substrate height in the pot | Recommended probe length |
|---|---|
| < 9 cm | 3 cm |
| 10 – 14 cm | 7.5 cm |
| 15 – 19 cm | 11 cm |
| 20 – 24 cm | 14 cm |
| 25 – 29 cm | 20 cm |
| 30 – 34 cm | 25 cm |
| 35 – 39 cm | 30 cm |
| ≥ 40 cm | 35 cm |

Note
When using FYTA sensors in lawns or garden beds, for example the FYTA Terra, there is no general recommendation for probe length.
The probes should be chosen to match the approximate root depth of the respective plants. This can vary depending on the watering cycle, soil density and other factors.
